PCSW Collaborated with Lahore School of Economics

Chairperson Punjab Commission On The Status of Women (PCSW), Fauzia Viqar has said research has potential to explore new avenues for social and economic development.

She said this while meeting with faculty of Centre for Research in Economics and Business (CREB) held at the Lahore School of Economics (LSE). While presenting mandate, operations and ongoing projects for development of PCSW, she said the PCSW encouraged research to highlight women related issues with an end to find out appropriate solutions to tackle rural and urban development issues.

She encouraged graduates to apply for jobs and internships at the PCSW if they wished to contribute towards well being of women. Fauzia reiterated that linkages with academia were crucial to translate theoretical work into evidence-based initiatives and strategic planning. Director CREB Dr Naved Hamid expressed his interest to collaborate with the PCSW for the purposes of research. He acknowledged the achievements and performance of the commission for informing and empowering women through various policy and at grassroots level initiatives in Punjab. He said that research-based studies provided opportunities to resolve social and economic issues being faced by the people of Punjab.
