The World Bank Group is honored to be hosting Ms. Fauzia Viqar, Chairperson, Punjab Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW), to discuss women’s empowerment agenda in Punjab province of Pakistan. Ms. Viqar is a leading figure in Pakistan’s movement for the empowerment of women, with over two decades of experience of working on women’s rights, gender-based violence and discrimination, and women’s equal participation in society. Under her leadership, the PCSW has become the foremost agency in providing technical assistance, capacity enhancement and monitoring support to public sector bodies working on gender-related outcomes. The Punjab Government has made significant breakthroughs in integrating gender in the operations of public sector, which is evidenced by steady improvements on provincial gender indicators.
